factors and multiples



WALT: I am learning to identify factors and multiples




I had to find the factors of a range of numbers.




12 = 3, 6, 12, 1, 2, 4




24 = 12, 6, 3, 2, 8, 1,




36 = 6, 9, 4, 1, 36




50 = 10, 5, 50, 1, 25, 2




45 = 9, 5, 1, 45




20 = 10, 2, 5, 4, 1, 20




75 = 5, 15, 1, 75




100 = 10, 1, 100




150 = 10, 15, 1, 150





Then I listed the multiples of the following numbers, I went up to 10x




5 = 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50




6 = 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60




7 = 7, 14, 21, 28, 32, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, 84




8 = 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 96




3 = 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36



15 = 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 135, 150, 165, 180, 195, 210, 225





The lowest common multiple (LCM) of 2 or more numbers is the smallest number that is a multiple of each of them. E.g. the lowest common multiple of 3 and 2 is 6. (they both also go into 30, but 6 is the smallest number they both go into).




I found the LCM of:




6 and 4 = 12




7 and 8 = 56




9 and 12 = 108




The highest common factor (HCF) is the highest number that can be divided exactly into each of two or more numbers.




For example, the common factors of 24 and 36 = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 12. So the highest common factor (H.C.F) of 24 and 36 = 12




I found he HCF of:




30 and 25 =5




14 and 21 = 7




56 and 49 =7




12 and 24 =12

AJ’s family are planning to build a treehouse in their garden. Some of Aj’s friends offer to help him to build it.


1. In order to start constructing the house,  AJ needs to get some wood from bunnings. His mum buys 45 planks of wood and his dad buys 132 planks of wood. How many do they have together? 177


 2. While building the house, AJ noticed that they were running out of nails so he went to buy some. They have 9 nails left at home. AJ  buys a pack of 145 nails and a pack of 50 nails. How many nails do they have now? 204 


3. To have a more stable treehouse, Jacob decided to tie the corner posts of the house to the tree itself. He used 24 cm of rope for the first post, 20cm on the second, 14cm on the third and 12cm on the fourth. How much rope was used? 70cm




4. The treehouse is almost done; all they need is to paint it. Paschal estimated that they will use 37L of white paint, 15L of green paint and 34L  of brown paint. How many litres of paint would they buy in total? 84L




5. After finishing the treehouse, AJs’ family made cookies for his friends to thank them for helping. If AJ ate 15 cookies, Jacob ate 10, Paschal ate 6  and Tisa only ate 5, how many cookies were eaten in total? 36




Show your working as you solve these problems:

145 + 235 = 280

How to be a good host

How to be a good host



Being a host is very important. It is an opportunity to show your guests that they welcome. I'm going to be explaining how to be a good host.



Welcome your guests into your house. Once you hear a knock at the door you politely greet them and invite them into your house. When you welcome them into your house you can offer them food and a drink.




If you offer them food and a drink if they say no thanks you still have to offer them food or a drink because that's being generous to your guest. It is rude to not offer you guests food and a drink.




When you invite your family members over to your house for lunch your house has to be clean so your family feels welcome and to show that you respect them.

And that is three ways to be a good host.

Important RULES



Important RULES


I am going to be explaining how important RULES are. Because when you hear the word ‘rules’ you think people are being in control of people but they are not trying to control you. People are just trying to keep you happy and safe. Rules help keep us safe from being injured. For example diving into a shallow pool and banging your head and getting concussed or paralyse for the rest of your life. Keeping to the rules is important so you and others around you can have a good time and share equipment with others. Everyone will have a happy time.

rocky shore habitat


There's are the zones of the rocky shore. We had to stick the creatures into the right zones or habitats. there are four zones the splash zone, high zone, mid zone and low zone.

Splash zone - top zone only gets water from big waves and the rain. Sea gulls, snails, fur seals and barnacles are found here as well as some crabs.

High zone - like the splash zone only gets some water and lots of waves. Cushion starfish and limpets can be found here.

Mid zone - this gets uncovered twice a day when there's high tide. Otherwise it is covered in water. Big starfish, chitons and crabs.

Low zone - always underwater so the creatures that need to always have water live here. Sea cucumbers, small fish, kina, sea horse and seaweed can be found here.
